Founded in 2005, Benevan Corporation has a dream in mind and a vision of something big: to provide Calgary’s youth with an accessible and enjoyable place to play hockey or ringette, take figure skating lessons, and simply enjoy the pleasure of skating. Additionally, other sports such as lacrosse can be accommodated during shoulder seasons.
Over recent years the population explosion in Calgary has taxed existing facilities to their limit resulting in capacity constraints, impractical times for families with young children, and increasing costs due to the imbalance between supply and demand.
An environmentally forward facility, the arena will not only help ease constraints, but also serve as a cornerstone of Calgary’s southeast communities. It will boast two NHL-sized ice surfaces, a pro-shop, physiotherapy clinic, restaurant/lounge, and ample seating for up to 1,000 fans. Potential for other amenities like tennis courts and indoor soccer fields also exist.
In addition, Benevan Gardens will become a gathering place, ideal for trade shows, community based events and entertainment.
